What is the Clinical Librarian Service?
The Clinical Librarian Service is part of the Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) Integrated Library Service (ILS).  The specialist service is designed to support staff  in the delivery of evidence-based practice, clinical governance, high quality patient care, education and training, lifelong learning and research.


Who can use the Clinical Librarian Service?
The Clinical Librarian Service is available to NHS staff working or on placement within Wirral University Teaching Hospital or Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.


What does the Clinical Librarian Service offer?


Information Literacy and Skills Training
The Clinical Librarian Service works alongside the Integrated Library Service (ILS) team to deliver an Information Literacy and Skills Training Programme.

Tailored group training sessions can also be delivered at your place of work at a time to suit you and your team. Please contact us to discuss the options available.

Literature Searching Service
The Clinical Librarian Service works alongside the ILS team to provide a Literature Searching Service.  Please link here for more details about this service and to download a Literature Search request form.

Assisted Literature Searches
The Clinical Librarian can also provide Assisted Literature Searches.  During an Assisted Literature Search you will work on a one-to-one basis with the Clinical Librarian as you undertake a Literature Search based on a topic of your choice.  This service is available to thoseemployed by or on placement with Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust or Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Exhibition displayPresentations and exhibition displays
The Clinical Librarian Service can visit your workplace present to your team a demonstration of the library services and health information resources available to them.  Please contact us for more details.

The Clinical Librarian Service can also present an exhibition display at your event, for example, an audit day or in-house Conference.

Where is the Clinical Librarian Service based?
The Clinical Librarian Service is based in the McArdle Library, Education Centre, Arrowe Park Hospital but the services can be delivered  across both Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital, or within your department or workplace.
