Theatres, Anaesthetics & Critical Care
The directorate is part of the Surgical Division and provides services to patients at Arrow Park and Clatterbridge hospitals and also to a number of other healthcare providers such as Psychiatry and the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.
The directorate has 12 theatres at Arrowe Park hospital and 6 at Clatterbridge hospital. The directorate also supports the Women and Children's theatres and other associated services.
The Anaesthetic department provides support to most areas of the hospital and provides a dedicated chronic/back Pain service.
The directorate provides Pre operative assessments for patients prior to admission and manages the Surgical Elective Admissions Lounge (SEAL) at Arrowe Park. The majority of elective patients at Arrowe Park are admitted through this area prior to surgery.
The Critical Care Unit has 18 beds and is based at Arrowe Park. More details of the services provided by Critical Care can be found elsewhere on this site.
