Welcome to the Dermatology Department at Wirral University Foundation Hospital Trust based at Clatterbridge Hospital
Over the last 15 years, the Dermatology Department has developed into one of the leading District General Dermatology departments in the country. It was recognised by the Dept of health as one of the 40 busiest departments in the country in 2005 and was short-listed for the finals of the ‘Hospital Doctor’ team of the year award.
All of the medical staff have had extensive training in dermatology and all clinics have an accredited dermatology consultant present. As a result we always strive to ensure that our patients see the right person, in the right place FIRST time, thereby delivering the right diagnosis first time whenever possible.
All of our major services are based in our dedicated unit at Clatterbridge Hospital and our skin surgery is carried out in our own theatres. As such, we have had NO problems with infections such as MRSA and C Difficile. However, to ensure that our expert services are provided as close to home as possible, we also run clinics at Arrowe Park and Victoria Central Hospital and as such we already comply with the Governments ‘Care Closer to Home’ initiative. We read all of the letters we receive form GPs and direct patient to their preferred hospital wherever possible, unless of course this would not be sensible in the light of the problem for which you are being referred.
