Physiotherapists help and treat people of all ages with physical problems caused by illness, accident/injury or ageing related problems for example.

Physiotherapy is a health care profession which sees human movement as central to the health and well being of individuals. The core skills of a physiotherapist are manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercises however the physiotherapist also has an appreciation of psychological, cultural and social factors which influence their clients.

The majority of Physiotherapists working for Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) work at either Arrowe Park or Clatterbridge hospital and provide physiotherapy in the following specialities

  • A&E areas including Medical Assessment Unit
  • Amputees
  • Care of Older People
  • Neurology (brain injury therapy, Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis)
  • Orthopaedics and trauma
  • Men`s Health
  • Musculoskeletal Outpatients  
  • Paediatrics
  • Respiratory Care
  • Stroke Rehabilitation
  • Surgery
  • Women’s health

However Physiotherapists also work at Victoria Central Hospital (Parkinson’s disease Service) and provide services to children in Special Schools and mainstream education.
